Koutsoumaris, NTUA, School of Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Division of Mechanics, Zografou, Greece<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Email:&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:kkouts@mail.ntua.gr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">kkouts@mail.ntua.gr<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">In recent decades, the systematic development and refinement of generalized continuum theories have provided a robust framework for modeling a broad  pectrum of mechanical phenomena associated with material microstructure\u2014phenomena that lie beyond the scope of classical continuum mechanics. Such  heories have been instrumental in addressing pathologies like stress singularities at crack tips, anomalous wave dispersion, and size-dependent effects  bserved at the microscale. Among the most prominent frameworks are nonlocal elasticity, strain-gradient elasticity, micropolar and Cosserat elasticity, couple  tress theory, and peridynamics. These formulations introduce higher-order kinematics, nonlocal interactions, and additional material length scales into the constitutive structure, substantially enriching the predictive capability of continuum models. However, the resulting field equations are often of higher order or  ntegro-differential in nature, posing significant analytical and computational challenges. This session focuses on advanced computational schemes and  nalytical methodologies tailored to the rigorous treatment of boundary value problems within the setting of generalized continua.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Organizers: C.
