A. Main Conference Tour to Asklipieion & Zia, 22/9/2012, 13:30-18:30

Τour starting from Kypriotis Hotel & Conference Center

The tour starts with the visit to the Asclepeion, the ancient temple dedicated to the God of health, Asclepius. The Asclepeion of Kos was the best and the most important “Asclepeion” of Ancient times. Situated 4km from the city center on a hill surrounded by a forest with cypress trees, it is divided into three levels, each totally different from the other, with a magnificent view of the gulf of Kerameikos and the Middle East coasts. At the Asclepeion you will have approx. 1 hour time.

After that the tour continues to the village Zia, situated on the mountain Dikeos. It’s a picturesque beautiful traditional village, where the guests will have some free time in order to wander around the village, do some shopping and enjoy the beautiful views and the breathtaking scenery. Guides will accompany the tour.

This tour is offered to all participants. Accompanying persons can also participate provided that they register and pay the fee until 21/9/2012.

B. Three islands Cruise, Thursday, 20/9/2012, 09:20 to 18:00 approximately

Full Day tour starting from Athos Kypriotis Hotel & Conference Center

The cruise to the Islands of Kalymnos, Plati, and Pserimos takes place on a traditional wooden boat (kaiki) and begins from Kos Harbour, at approximately 09:30 – 10:00 hrs.
The first island of this cruise is Kalymnos, the world-known “sponge island”.  After the arrival, clients are given one hour in which they can visit the sponge warehouse and walk through the small streets around the harbour. 
Leaving Kalymnos, the boat sails on to the next destination; the small island of Plati, which has a population of 2! The crew prepares a B.B.Q, either on the boat or on the beach, while the group enjoys a swim in the crystal clear waters.  
The last island of this cruise is Pserimos, a rocky island with a white, sandy beach, and small, friendly traditional cafes. 
The kaiki departs from Pserimos at approximately 16:00 – 16:30, and the “three islands cruise” ends at Kos harbour at about 17:30-18:00h.

The B.B.Q, or lunch in a taverna is included in the price

Please note that this description can be changed, depending on which boat is used. Some boats go to Pserimos island first.

C. Kos City Tour, Sunday, 23/9/2012, 09:30 to 13:15 approximately

Half Day tour starting from Kypriotis Hotel & Conference Center

The guided tour of the city of Kos and its monuments starts with the visit in Asclepeion, the ancient temple dedicated to the God of health, Asclepeios. The Asclepeion of Kos was the best and the most important “Asclepeion” of the Antiquity. Situated 4km from the city centre on a hill surrounded by a forest with cypress trees and divided into three levels each totally different from the other, with a magnificent view of the golf of Kerameikos and the Middle East coasts. The tour around Asclepeion and the “trip” in the World of Hippocrates takes about one hour and there then follows the tour to the “West excavation zone”. There are the foundations of the ancient gymnastic ground “Xysto”, so named because the athletes coated themselves with olive oil before the games and scraped it off afterwards. The “Thermes”, the roman public baths, the “Early Christian Basilica”. The “Nymphaion” a “Vespasiani” of 3rd century BC, with a yard full of mosaics and a Corinthian colonnade, and the roman house with the magnificent mosaic of “Europe’s Abduction” and the mosaic with the “Nine Mousses”. Just opposite the “Xysto”, is the ancient “Odeon”, a well-constructed roman theater.
 
Walking through the small streets of the old town, we reach the Liberty’s square, the central square of the city, which is surrounded from the Italian buildings such as the Museum (the Italian Palace of 1936), the Agora (the Market) and the Library.

Passing through the “Toll Gate” entrance, the central gate of the ancient city Wall, this leads, through the ancient “agora” to the square of Hippokrates’ Plane Tree, the oldest tree in Europe. The bridge, which crosses the Palm Trees Avenue, join the square with the Medieval Castle of Neratzia, which was built by the Knights of St. John in 1478, which dominates the port .The Platanos Square, is rich in monuments of all the occupation’s periods of the Island. The mosque of Loggia, built in 1786, is the monument of the Turkish occupation.
Here, under the shadow of the Hippokrates Plane Tree, finishes the three hours trip in the history of Kos.

D. Bodrum TURKEY, Friday, 21/9/2012, 08:40 to 17:15 approximately

Full Day tour starting from Kypriotis Hotel & Conference Center

The city of Bodrum is situated 7 miles from the island of Kos.  Bodrum is the ancient Greek city Halicarnassus, where Herodotus was born. Today Bodrum is one of the most tourist places in Turkey and famous for its open-air market and the long marine-harbour.

The boat takes 45 to 50 min. to arrive at Bodrum. Guests can have free time to go around for shopping, to visit the medieval castle, which is very near to the port, or the Mausoleum. The Mausoleum was the grave of the king Mausolos, the king of the ancient Halicarnassus. Mausoleum was considered to be one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

For the trip in Turkey we have to have the list with the passport details of the passengers from the day before. For one-day excursion in Turkey we do not get a stamp in the passports.

E. Nissyros Island, Tuesday, 25/9/2012, 07:50 to 16:30 approximately

Full Day tour starting from Kypriotis Hotel & Conference Center

Nissyros is a unique volcanic island in the southeast Aegean Sea, with rich and extremely diverse flora and fauna. In the volcano area there is one of the best-preserved craters. In accordance with the Legend, Nissyros was a part of Kos and was created after the war of giant Polyvotis and the God Poseidon.

Villages with a unique architecture and very friendly people, Nissyros welcomes the visitors who come to walk to the monastery of “Panagia Spiliani”, Mandraki, the capital of the island and of course those who would like to visit the volcano and its crater Stefano of 260m diameter and 30m deep.

The departure from Kos Island is at 08:30 and the trip takes about two hours, when departing from Kos harbour and one hour when departing from Kardamena harbour.

Arriving at Nisyros follows the trip by bus from the harbour to the volcano and then on foot to the crater with the ‘blow holes’ where steam escapes and also where mud has been bubbling away from under the surface. The sulphur crystals make an interesting display and it is possible to even stand over the top of a Geo-Thermal spring and hear the water running away below you. The bus transportation from the harbour to the volcano depends on the bus schedule.

On the way back and at the altitude of 50m is the monastery of “the Virgin Mary of the Cave”, with a superb view along the east side of the island.

The visit in Nissyros will finish with a lunch in one of the traditional taverns and a walk in the village of Mandraki
